Town Flower Tunbridge Wells

Picture
Hello, I'm Ellen Montelius of Town Flowers Tunbridge Wells. My journey as a flower grower and seller started with my interest in beekeeping.  I joined the local beekeepers association and maintained a few colonies of bees. Through that experience, I became aware of solitary bees, butterflies and other insects that were in decline because of climate change, intensive farming and pesticides. Working together with my friend, artist Elizabeth Clayman we co-created a bee project with Kent High Weald Partnership and The Laboratory of Apiculture and Social Insects (LASI) at the University of Sussex. This led to a Heritage Lottery Funded Tunbridge Wells based Cross Pollination Project to raise awareness of the plight of bees and other pollinators. CPP built flower beds, delivered workshops and offered citizen science opportunities. During this time, I realised that I really enjoyed growing a wide variety of flowers and decided to grow and sell flowers. Thankfully, there are many cut flowers that are bee friendly. I joined the Flowers from the Farm and it’s been a very pleasurable journey working with flower growers, florists and flower enthusiasts.   I provide seasonal mixed flower arrangers buckets, bouquets for special occasions and farewell flowers from June to October for you to buy. When you purchase flowers from Town Flowers Tunbridge Wells, you are supporting a local business and getting the freshest cut flowers that have been grown sustainably, peat free and with no pesticides.
